Lenovo System Update checks for Lenovo-approved driver, firmware, BIOS, and software updates for your computer. Installing these updates helps maintain system compatibility, stability, and security.
Before You Begin
Before installing updates:
- Connect the computer to AC power.
- Save your work and close open applications.
- Ensure the computer has a stable internet connection.
- Be prepared to restart the computer.
- Do not turn off or disconnect the computer while firmware or BIOS updates are being installed.
Procedure
1. Open Lenovo System Update
- Enter System Update in the search box.
- Select System Update application from the search results.
2. Check for Available Updates
- When Lenovo System Update opens, select Next to begin checking for available updates.
3. Select the Updates
After the scan finishes, the available updates are organized into the following categories:
- Critical updates
- Recommended updates
- Optional updates
Review and select all available items under each tab (Critical, Recommended, and Optional updates) to install. Select Next to continue.
4. Review and Download the Updates
Review the selected updates.
- Select Download to begin downloading and installing them.
5. Acknowledge Restart Warnings
Some firmware and BIOS updates may require the computer to restart during or after installation. If a restart notification appears:
- Verify that your work has been saved.
- Close any remaining applications.
- Select OK to continue.
Do not turn off the computer, remove power, or interrupt the update process.
6. Restart the Computer
When prompted that one or more installed packages require a restart, select OK to reboot the computer.
